Mein
Kindheitstraum: in einen Regenwald. Und da stand er vor mir, in Form des Parc
National des Volcans, einem Nationalpark im Nordwesten Rwandas, nahe der
Kleinstadt Musanze. Ein Regenwald, der sich über 5 Vulkankegel erstreckt und
Heimat von Berggorillas ist. Unser Ziel war der Bisoke, ein 3711m hoher
Vulkankegel mit Kratersee. 1100 Höhenmeter mussten wir bewältigen, auf
beschwerlichen und schlammigen Wegen,
aber durch eine wunderschöne Landschaft. Immer in Begleitung von 5
Soldaten mit Maschienengewehren, einem Guide und einem standby Gepackträger.
Leider haben wir
keine Berggorillas gesehen. Wenn man welche sehen will muss man 750 Dollar
bezahlen. Aber ich habe 2 Antilopen und einen Büffel gesehen.
My dream of childhood: going into a rainforest. And
there it was: in the shape of the Parc National des Vulcans, a National park in
the northwest of Rwanda next to the town of Musanze. It is home to several
groups of mountain gorillas and consists of 5 Vulcans. Our destination was
Bisoke which is 3711m high and has a crater lake at the top. We had to climb up
1100 meters on a difficult way with a lot of mud but within a beautiful
landscape. All the time we were accompanied by 5 soldiers, a guide and a man
who would carry our stuff if we couldn’t do it anymore (I carried my stuff
myself ;) ). Unfortunately we didn’t see any gorillas but we knew forwards that
there is only little chance to see them if you don’t do a gorilla tour for 750
Dollars. But I saw two antelopes and a buffalo.
