Back in Mwanza

Vier Wochen Rundreise durch Tanzania. Unmengen an Erlebnissen, Erfahrungen und neuer Menschen. Nur eines nicht: Entspannung. Jeden zweiten Tag hieß es von neuem Rucksäcke packen und wieder umziehen. Aber das macht nichts, denn wir wurden mit vielen tollen Dingen bereichert. Tanzania ist ein unglaublich faszinierendes und vielseitiges Land. Mit knapp 900.000km² hat es eine unglaubliche Größe und fasst somit beeindruckend viele Landschaften, Kulturkreise und Klimate ein. Unsere Reise führte uns von Mwanza zuerst in den momentan kühlen, aber grünen Norden nach Arusha, Moshi und in die Usambaraberge nach Lushoto. Von dort ging es weiter an die feuchtwarme palmenreiche Küste von Tanga und Pangani, dann mit dem Flugzeug auf die grüne Gewürzinsel Pemba und die Hauptinsel Zanzibar, wo es leider aufgrund des Ramadhan nur nach Sonnenuntergang Essen gab. Von Zanzibar aus sind wir mit der Fähre zurück in Tanzanias größte Stadt Dar es Salaam gefahren und dann weiter in den momentan sehr kalten und trockenen Süden, nach Mbinga, in das kleine Dorf Litembo im Gebirge und in das Benediktinerkloster Peramiho. Da der Rückweg von Peramiho nach Mwanza sehr weit ist, hatten wir noch einen kurzen Zwischenstopp in Tanzanias Hauptstadt Dodoma, wo wir bei einem Winzer übernachten durften. Auf unserer Reise haben wir Tanzania also kreuz und quer bereist und durch die vielen langen Busfahrten auch außerhalb unserer eigentlichen Ziele viel gesehen. Dennoch bin ich froh, keine Busfahrten mehr vor mir zu haben, da es dieses Jahr schon zu sehr vielen Busunfällen gekommen ist.

 Four weeks travelling around in Tanzania. Lots of new experiences and people. Just one thing missing: time to relax. Every second morning it was again time for packing our staff and to move to another place. But that's nothing to worry about because the more we moved the more things we were able to see. Tanzania is a fascinating country. With nearly 900.000km² it has an enormous size and diversity of landscape, culture and climates.

Starting in Mwanza we went to the cool but green North to Arisha, Moshi and the Usambara Mountains. Up from there we travelled to the warm coast of Tanga and Pangani and took a plane to the green spice island Pemba and from there to Zanzibar. From the beaches of Zanzibar we went by ferry to the biggest city of Tanzania, Dar es Salaam and up to the cool South with Mbinga, the little village in the mountains Litembo and the monastery of Peramiho.
